Men's Breakfast and Ministry
The Ascension Lutheran Church Men's Ministry will have their first organizational meeting on Sat. Jun 28 at 8:00 am. The Men's Ministry/Men's Breakfast is envisioned as a service ministry to meet one Saturday per month and bring our combined knowledge, experience, and effort together for the betterment of our church facility and each other. Many hands make for light work.
Our normal Sat Breakfast routine will entail a daily devotion, we will enjoy a hearty breakfast and each other's company followed by a traditional men's activities of Building-Fixing-Improving our church, our congregation, and ourselves. We have the experience, we have the tools, and we have each other.
Future Summer Saturdays activities could be: (as we are needed and as we are able)
-Mower Maintenance/Blade sharpening workshop
-Grounds maintenance workshop
-Laymen electrician workshop
-Wood working workshop
-Advanced grilling techniques
-Advanced horseshoes or Cornhole
-Royals Game Day and advanced Pizza workshop
Hey, we are guys. We can't be serious all the time.
All men of Ascension are encouraged to come for a breakfast of sausage, biscuits and gravy and discuss the organization and goals of this new Ascension activity...and bring a friend.
Walker Program
Ascension’s Walker Program is live! The Family Life Center is open for walking from 7 am to 10 am weekdays. Walking is a great way to start your day and can improve both your physical and mental health! Please join us.
Our Walker Program provides our members and our community with a forum for physical exercise through walking and fellowship. Ascension members serve as hosts for the program; which is open weekdays from 7 am to 10 am (not including holidays or when there is inclement weather). If you are interested in serving as a host, a host substitute, and/or would like more information please feel free to reach out to Charles Green or Pam Rinas.

BIRTHDAY IN A BOX DONATION DRIVE
The Board of Human Care is partnering with Harvesters to ensure that local kids and adults can enjoy a birthday cake on their special day! Each Birthday in a Box goes to households served by agency networks to ensure a birthday doesn’t pass without the means to celebrate.
Each box contains all the necessary ingredients to make a cake as well as candles, balloons, banner, plates, cups, napkins, and plastic utensils. We have applied for a Thrivent grant to get us started, and combined with your support we hope to achieve our goal of 50 boxes.
Donations will be accepted through the end of July. Monetary donations will also be accepted to purchase items needed to complete the boxes. If contributing using a check, please designate “Birthday Box Donation” so the funds can be allocated appropriately. See the table in the narthex or ask any member of the Human Care Board (Flannery Bartels, Johna Brill, Darlene Crain, Lourene Embree, Candy King, Mark and Mary Lippe, Dean and Bev Mettlen, Doug and Pam Rinas) for more information.
Caps for Norfleet
This will be the Christmas that the Caring for Kids partners will give caps and mittens to the students at Norfleet for Christmas. Mary Lippe has been busy knitting caps. If you would like to help knit caps, please let Mary or Brenda Frolin know. You can also help by donating yarn, drop it in the box in the narthex.
