Sunday School in Action

Yay! Sunday School is in full swing for our youth. Each week, children from preschool through 6th grade hear about God's love through song, prayer, crafts and stories. We pray that God continues to work in the hearts of these children and their teachers.

Schedule for Sunday Morning

8:15 - Adult Bible class
8:30 - Sunday School and confirmation class for youth
9:30 - Sunday Worship in the sanctuary

There will be coffee in the Family Life Center from 8:00 until after the church service. Please stop by the FLC before or after church for coffee and fellowship.

Vicar Walt Little's Bible Study ~

Walt's Wednesday Bible Study on Martin Luther’s 95 Theses is paused until October 29.

Pastor Stolle’s Bible Class ~

The Friday Bible Study with Pastor Stolle will begin in September. This study is on Max Lucado’s book: What Happens Next: A Traveler’s Guide Through the End of This Age. Cost of the book is $17 please pay Pastor Stolle cash when the class starts. See Becky for a book.

Stewardship Moment

Members of Ascension have done a great job of managing all stewardship. A big thank you from leadership for using what God has entrusted to each of you. As you serve others faithfully with your time and energy, we give our gracious God the glory.

Messiah Seniors Group Special Program

The Messiah Seniors group-meets Thursday, October 16th at 11am. The program will be given by Ben Goehring and his wife Ella. They are newly appointed missionaries for the LCMS. They will be deploying to serve in Romania around December. Following the program there will be a devotion and a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish to share and come enjoy the fellowship. A free will offering is collected to offset program costs.

SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED

The Board of Human Care is collecting donations to support the Fisher House Kansas City, a 16-suite, 14,000 square feet "home away from home" which serves families and caregivers of veterans receiving health care from the Kansas City VA Hospital. The drive will run through Sunday, November 9 with donations delivered on Veteran's Day. Please see the table in the narthex for more information; including a list of requested items. We have also secured a $250 Thrivent Grant which will be used to supplement donations. Monetary donations will also be accepted; please designate them towards Fisher House. THANK YOU for giving back to those who have given so much to us.

Are You Ready for Chiefs Football?

The Ministry of Outreach is hosting a Chiefs watch party for regular season Sunday games. Come join us in the Game Room downstairs for some fellowship and team spirit.

Walker Program

Ascension’s Walker Program is live! The Family Life Center is open for walking from 7 am to 10 am weekdays. Walking is a great way to start your day and can improve both your physical and mental health! Please join us.

Our Walker Program provides our members and our community with a forum for physical exercise through walking and fellowship. Ascension members serve as hosts for the program; which is open weekdays from 7 am to 10 am (not including holidays or when there is inclement weather). If you are interested in serving as a host, a host substitute, and/or would like more information please feel free to reach out to Charles Green or Pam Rinas.

A reminder that there is coffee available in the Family Life Center after Church. Grab a cup and visit with friends.

Volunteer Opportunity

The Board of Human Care invites you to volunteer at the Messiah Food Pantry on Saturday, October 18. Setup begins at 9 am and the drive through pantry is open from 10 to noon. There is a sign-up sheet in the Narthex. Please join us.

Trunk-or-Treat is coming!

This is our fourth year of hosting Trunk-or-Treat in the Ascension parking lot. Our Leaky Cauldron will be appearing in the Narthex to collect candy donations in the coming weeks. We are also looking for hosts to decorate your car trunk for handy out candy. If interested, please contact Eileen Green.

LWML MO District KC South Zone 2025 Fall Rally

The LWML Fall Rally will be Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with the theme “The Way from Africa to Missouri” based on Matthew 25:35b. Rally will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 8240 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO. Program: LUMA Executive Director, Pastor Phil Cook, will share results of how LWML Mites provide assistance for the Congolese, Liberian and Oromo refugees in Kansas City, Missouri. Gifts from the Heart: Monetary donations (checks payable to LWML MO District KC South Zone) and QT gas cards. Registration begins at 9:00 am; opening devotion at 9:30 am. Cost is $5 (includes lunch).
