Sunday School in Action

Yay! Sunday School is in full swing for our youth. Each week, children from preschool through 6th grade hear about God's love through song, prayer, crafts and stories. We pray that God continues to work in the hearts of these children and their teachers.

Schedule for Sunday Morning

8:15 - Adult Bible class
8:30 - Sunday School and confirmation class for youth
9:30 - Sunday Worship in the sanctuary

There will be coffee in the Family Life Center from 8:00 until after the church service. Please stop by the FLC before or after church for coffee and fellowship.

Bible Studies at Church

Sunday Bible Study

Our next Sunday morning Bible Study will be over the book of Philippians and will be led by Sarah Eckhoff. We will be using the book "Joy: A Study of Philippians" by Deb Burma if you would like to purchase your own book to use as reference. We will begin this study on Sunday, May 24th.

Pastor Walt's Bible Study ~

Pastor Walt's Bible study on the book TOGETHER WE BELIEVE A Study of the Apostles’ Creed by Emily Belvery will begin April 15 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Walt will be ordering books. If interested let him know so he has enough books for everyone.

Pastor Stolle’s Bible Class ~

Bible Study with Pastor Stolle resumed Friday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. We will continue our study of Zacharia starting at chapter 9; no materials to purchase. Mark your calendar to join us.

Walker Program

Ascension provides our members and our community with a place for physical exercise through walking in our FLC gym weekday mornings from 7 to 10 a.m. This program also provides a forum for getting to know one another and many connections and friendships have been formed over the years. Ascension members serve as hosts for the program, and we are looking for additional volunteers to serve either on a scheduled or substitute basis. Contact Pam Rinas (pamrinas@icloud.com or 816.679.7996) or any of our Walker Hosts (Johna Brill, Darlene Crain, Darrel and Brenda Frolin, Phyllis Kohl, Candy King, Joyce Pinkepank, Doug Rinas, Theresa Trautman) if you are interested or have further questions. The Dorcas Circle Mitten Tree Is Up

We are taking donations of adult and children’s hats, gloves and other winter necessities. Items will be taken to the LUMA-Auxiliary meeting on November 18 and delivered to Messiah, Our Redeemer and Immanuel to be used for their food pantry clients.

Ascension Thanksgiving Dinner.

Please join us after the Voter’s Meeting on November 15 for a Thanksgiving meal. Meat will be furnished. Please bring a side to share. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex to get headcount for purchasing the meat.

November is “bucks for books” month!

The principal at Norfleet has asked our church and our fellow “Caring for Kids” partners to provide funding to buy books for the students to take home as a Christmas gift. You may remember we did this a few years ago and it’s a big hit! We are asking for monetary donations during the month of November. Please help us raise $500 for this worthy cause. Just mark your gift as “Books for Norfleet” and drop it in the offering plate by Sunday, November 22. Your generosity speaks volumes—thank you!

Ascension Lutheran Church

Trunk-or-Treat is coming! This is our fifth year of hosting Trunk-or-Treat in the Ascension parking lot. Our Leaky Cauldron is in the Narthex to collect candy donations. We are also looking for hosts to decorate your car trunk for handing out candy. If interested, please contact Eileen Green.

SERVING THOSE WHO SERVED

The Board of Human Care is collecting donations to support the Fisher House Kansas City, a 16-suite, 14,000 square feet "home away from home" which serves families and caregivers of veterans receiving health care from the Kansas City VA Hospital. The drive will run through Sunday, November 8 with donations delivered on Veteran's Day. Please see the table in the narthex for more information; including a list of requested items. We have also secured a $250 Thrivent Grant which will be used to supplement donations. Monetary donations will also be accepted; please designate them towards Fisher House. THANK YOU for giving back to those who have given so much to us.
